SHOT OUT  aforbing  11 Aug 16 8:05AM Thread Closed

All the old-skool peeps... I hope that u r all doing well.
I'll do my best to recommit to my "world-famous" critique.  I haven't been producing a lot lately, but to WRITE poems, one must READ them.
Looking forward to seeing your work, my friends. ~forbster

The one does not necessarily follow the other and either are not requirements of the other.

At least twenty times, before committing them to the trash can.

self centered and insecure kids don't want to be 'influenced' by other people's work. it's understandable, and part of being a kid -- where, all you're doing is learning to become coordinated with grown-up's language. for the kid, it's mostly all about the 'idea' in the thing, anyway. and, kids just like to say stuff and get attention and ask,  'do ye like mee?'. and, really, nothing is lost if these kids don't read other poetry. the poetry isn't fruit waiting to be picked, it's the earth nurturing the root and spine of everything.

This is utter snobbery on your part.
There are no 'rules' nor are there fixed pathways for everyone to act and behave in the same way to create art.
You are not an artist nor very much of poet so you wouldn't understand this.

as adults, we can learn from the mistakes of our childhood or perhaps unlearn those mistakes.
