Tears in your laugh lines

I imagined you with tears in your laugh lines
the night I broke
"slow down," you murmured
through peaceful sounds of birds and trees
"do not try and seize what does not belong to you
accept people and places gradually."
I looked at you with dry eyes and frown lines and responded,
"what if these things do not accept me?"
At these words the trees stopped and the birds were silent.
I stood alone in the place where I had found you
...and in the silence, I finally had the courage to let what will be, be.
