In Sheep's Clothing
unknown

The final glow of earth-shattering inspiration
 1
relied on the moon, that had nested in the wings
 2
of the dawn of all the splendid Creation,
 3
eventually to follow the dark. All of the wavering flings
 4

of the shores that relied on what rain brings
 5
to fill them, fill them with a full supply,
 6
was the recoil in this snake-like plan
 7
to cause each particle of earth to wither in dry
 8

loneliness. If dripping clouds had not been there to ban
 9
the desert the shores would have stretched in stealth
 10
to be like the snake in the grass, a friend to the will
 11
involved in plundering the world of all its wealth,
 12

then the place One had envisioned to be a paradise fulfill,
 13
would smolder on ability to thrive in righteous thrill.
