No Arms To Hold Me Tight
rrjcarleton

Bright orange flames flicker from the fire
 1
As warmth and quiet make me tire.
 2
I close my eyes and rest near by,
 3
And the thoughts I think make me cry.
 4

No arms to hold me tight,
 5
Or lips to kiss good-night.
 6
No soft-spoken 'I love yous'.
 7
This life, why is it I choose?
 8

No mortal man endures such pain
 9
Without the dream of special gain.
 10
So many years have passed me by
 11
And still each night it makes me cry.
 12

No arms to hold me tight,
 13
Or lips to kiss good-night.
 14
No soft-spoken 'I love yous'.
 15
This life, why is it I choose?
