My Dearest Clavier
eyerite

You poor thing,
 1
Beaten, bruised,
 2
Lines of black,
 3
Singing blues:
 4
I’m sorry for
 5
Wailing on you,
 6
Chipping those
 7
Once ivory teeth,
 8
Now yellowing in
 9
A straight mouth.
 10
Melancholy rumbles,
 11
Rises from deep
 12
In that sobbing chest:
 13
The way you cry
 14
Makes my heart
 15
Shiver & pulse with
 16
Relief & release.
 17
So I keep on
 18
Poking, prodding,
 19
Striking, abusing
 20
Your every inch
 21
Until my hands,
 22
Red & blue,
 23
Give up on you,
 24
& I rest my arms
 25
& head on your
 26
Flat contused belly:
 27
Sharp pains make a
 28
Jumbled moan
 29
Burst & fade
 30
Into a low hum.
 31
Silence chimes
 32
As I leave your
 33
Sturdy frame
 34
Cold & used
 35
Now paralyzed
 36
In a dark room.
 37
Sleep well, my dear,
 38
Perhaps tomorrow
 39
I will play your
 40
Favorite waltz,
 41
Chopin’s L'adieu,
 42
Just for you.
