Technology emotional

I feel short now
because we used to have
a waist-high fence.
I feel hoarse now
because we used to speak
to get our news.
I feel cold now
because we used to convene
around an unreliable fire.
I feel distant now
because we contact more
people in other countries
than our own friends.
I feel dizzy now
because we suddenly have
next-door neighbours
above and below us.
I feel ugly now
because we used to be
smiled at in the street-
without fear of collisions.
I feel bullied now
because I'm neglected
in a way no machine
could have ever detected.
