Colonel Sanders died from leukemia
crusty bone marrow
wrapped in tender flesh.

I know what it's about but it hit me too close to home, as my mom has blood cancer and just began chemo yesterday,

@Isabelle: I think I read a poem on here that you wrote about your mother.  It must be very difficult for you and your family.  I recommend reading The Long Goodbye by Meghan O'Rourke.  I think you'll like it.
