Trapped in Purgatory

clawing at the door
death rarely comes
for those who expect it
it’s lottery on a whim
the drawing sped
through the shut eye of time
by crack smoking
and sloth
but sometimes
just don’t die
no matter how hard
they try
short of flat out suicide
some might say a guardian angel
looks out
or it could just be hell on earth
what it is ain’t for me to decide
but sometimes I wonder
the big why--
I guess that is what church is for
looking for answers
in an old book
that the smooth crinkly pages
just don’t tell
while the good
to die young

Interesting point of view.  You have to keep walking, no early escape possible.
