genesis rewritten

god is not an old man in a white cloak
god is young
god is
sharp angles and a tattoo that says
he is a starving artist
on the streets
torn jeans
people don’t pay for mistakes
god is
drunk in a club
on a tuesday night
bloody knuckles in an alley
dangerous eyebrow raises
god is
cardboard signs that say
“need money for weed”
and ecstasy induced heaven
god said
let there be clouds
and he blew a puff of smoke
from a cigarette
god is
damaged and despairing
one of us because we weren’t like him
