Beautiful Dream

There was a day when all went well.
Grain in the field swelled
Wine stain on the carpet washed out.
All within shouting distance
raised hands in accord.
Storms stayed out at sea.
Pests on the crops vanished.
All agreed it was best to work as one
no one lording it over the rest.
Stars ran their course like clockwork
beyond perfect skies
not one crime was committed.
No lies, crying, or feelings disguised.
Such a beautiful dream.
